Why Our Energy Efficiency Consultants Are Different

  • Independent and Brand Neutral

We have chosen to remain independent and brand neutral so our solutions are the most economical for our clients. Our core service is energy consulting and our efficiency consultants are super talented in implementing the systems.

  • Custom Solutions

No facility is the same, and we don’t offer a packaged solution. Each facility is a clean slate, with new opportunities and new avenues for unique improvements. We become an extension of your internal technical staff by paying personal attention to your project planning, implementation, and completion. Our mission is to manage energy consumption while meeting production objectives of industrial clients.

  • Trade Ally Network

Our 35+ years of industrial assessments has fostered relationships with implementers all over the continental US. This is a direct benefit of working directly with facilities preferred vendors and we are now in the unique position to offer those relationships to clients, filling in gaps to better manage the clients’ objectives.

Technologies We Address

We provide support over a wide range of technologies and industrial systems. Our utility incentive management success extends well beyond traditional Energy Savings Projects to cover Plant Expansions, New Production Lines, New Industrial Processes, and most any project being considered in a plant’s capital budget plan.

What Our Clients Are Saying About their Experience

Following a compressed air seminar training and system review with generated action plan – One year later:

“…working with your associates, we implemented the air energy conservation plan.  The result is a $158,000 per year cost savings.”

Christopher Smith, Facilities EngineerITT Industries

One year later, after a full compressed air audit system review and maintenance seminar

“We have implemented the programs where we are now running only two (2) of the four (4) air compressors when we run the mill and packaging lines.  This is phenomenal when you consider that it took up to four (4) compressors in the past to do the same thing.”

Scott McLain, EngineerRalston Purina Golden Cat Division

From the U.S. Department of Energy:

“This award is to acknowledge your hard work, dedication and many hours of voluntary effort in developing the curriculums and implementation strategy for the Compressed Air Challenge Training Program.”

Paul Scheihing, Program DirectorU.S. Department of Energy

Following a full audit of the plant after another “audit” had recommended two (2) new compressors – our audit corrected piping errors instigated air conservation programs – shut off one compressor – no new compressors.

“…you guys did an outstanding job.”

Matt Kuntz, Environmental EngineerJohnson & Johnson, Merck

After completion of a three-plant corporate air program, systems were reconfigured and post measured.

“…to inform you of your selection as an Engineering Partner in Excellence Award winner.  This very special recognition is for your tremendous efforts supporting the Compressed airOptimization program.Your contributions have been very important to us …”

Roger Wallis, Director of EngineeringRoss Products Division Abbott Laboratories

“With the audit by Air Power USA, we have reduced our energy bill for compressed air by 74%.  Our new compressor that was recommended in the audit is performing great.  Whenever we have had a follow-up question about any compressed air issue, Air Power USA’s staff are always helpful in getting us the answer.  We were so pleased with their program that we helped recruit another plant to participate.”

Burt Seigelman, PresidentTech Flex.

The review of our compressed air system by Air Power USA has been a great help to Air Industries.  We are under a “supplier mandate” to reduce our production costs by 10% over the next three years.  The savings of more the $100,000 that we gain from improving our compressed air system (about half of our current cost) will help us achieve this goal.  Quite frankly, without Air Power USA’s, efforts, it is unlikely we would have captured any of these savings.”

Erik Harsch, Plant EngineerAir Industries

“Air Power USA has really performed at our plant in El Monte.  By implementing 14 of the audit recommendations, we expect to cut our electric bill by $400,000 and our electric demand by more than 500 kW.  As part of another energy program, the KEMA – XENERGY team also reduced our energy cost by a similar amount at our Madera plant served by PG&E  In the Madera project, savings levels projected in the audit report were within 1% of the actual savings level achieved.  We have confidence that Air Power USA will deliver the project energy savings projected for El Monte.

Brand Runda, Energy ManagerSaint-Gobain Containers Division

“We had Air Power USA come in and do a compressed air survey.  The initial findings pointed to some issues that we were not aware of.  We are in the process of forming a plan to address these issues.  Everyone here was very impressed with Air Power USA’s crew.  The preliminary report turned on a lot of “light bulbs” in people’s heads.  We should have done this, years ago.  It would have saved us the cost of a new compressor and so much electricity that it boggles my mind.  If anyone has a doubt in their mind whether to do the survey or not, I would say do it.  They can see things that even pipe fitters and engineers don’t see.  Save your company money, too.  If anyone has, questions contact me.

Industries We Serve

Each person is a specialized energy efficiency consultant at APenergy and helps manufacturers and industrial facilities improve their energy performance and pay for it through utility incentives and funding. We don’t sell or install equipment, but we have established connections with trusted vendors that do. We work with individual facilities or multi-plant organizations.

Compressed Air Case Study

APenergy assisted an industrial manufacturing plant with a $300,000 compressed air system re-piping and optimization project. It resulted in reducing the plant’s operating costs by more than $150 each month. With our help, they were able to do all of this without spending a penny of their own funds.

Process Cooling Case Study

Through energy analysis, project consulting, and utility incentive funding, APenergy helped this industrial manufacturer reduce their operating costs. This $60,000 process cooling modification project reduced operating costs by $70,000 without costing the plant any money.

Frequently Asked Questions

APenergy started as a compressed air industry expert, focusing on implementing compressed air-related projects with our in-house expertise. Now, APenergy maximizes its trade ally network to implement and manage incentives for all types of industrial projects including but not limited to: lighting, HVAC, vacuum, process cooling, process improvement, plant expansions, hydraulic and pumping systems, thermal insulation, and variable frequency drives.

We primarily focus on US manufacturing with focus localities that vary year-to-year.

For us, this means that APenergy does not sell equipment. We take an independent, impartial assessment of your facility and work with your recommended implementers to develop energy-efficient projects. However, if the facility does not have a preferred vendor, APenergy has preferred trade allies located all over the US to assist in the implementation process

Technical assessment, system troubleshooting, project implementation support, project incentive management and funding, monitoring and tracking systems, incentive management for capital projects and plant expansions, corporate programs for benchmarking and annual energy initiatives.

Many programs have specific rules about what is referred to as a free rider. These are projects that would occur or are occurring, regardless of their utility benefit, and therefore the project is ineligible for Utility incentives. This is exactly why it’s best to get APenergy involved as early as possible to verify eligibility prior to starting the project. The specifics are different for each utility program and having APenergy involved with a low/no-cost walkthrough to assess eligibility is always a good idea.

Many of our recommended projects can be implemented with little to no capital costs. We work towards that goal because of the ever-restricting corporate budgets being allocated. Even projects upwards of $10K typically require a corporate budget approval. Developing utility funding options, as well prioritizing focus on projects the facility wants to implement, APenergy is typically able to keep these decisions at the facility level, quickly improving implementation timelines and maintaining a low, up-front cost.
